> Hi folks,

> What is the Ubuntu Global Jam?
> ------------------------------
>
> The Ubuntu Global Jam[0] is an incredible opportunity for the Ubuntu community
> to unite together around the weekend of 27th - 29th August to work together to
> improve Ubuntu. Everyone is able to contribute to the Jam, and everyone is
> welcome and encouraged to get involved. Curious about how to make a real
> difference to Ubuntu? This is a great chance to make that difference.
>
> The Ubuntu Global Jam incorporates events that have been organized over the
> world to get Ubuntu contributors and fans together to have a great time and
> improve Ubuntu.
>
> When and where is the Cape Town Jam?
> ------------------------------------
>
> We will be holding the Cape Town Jam at The Shuttleworth Lab[1] located on the
> ground floor of the Computer Science Building on UCT Upper Campus. Go in the
> front door, turn down the right passage, and it's on your right, behind the
> Freedom Toaster. The Jam will be held on Sunday 29 Aug, from 14:00 until
> 18:00.
>
> For more information on entry and parking at UCT, have a look at the Freedom
> Toaster[2] page on the CLUG Wiki.
>
> What do I need to do to join?
> -----------------------------
>
> For the most part, you just need to rock up on Sunday. However, we do ask that
> you would register on the event[3] on the Ubuntu LoCo Directory. You need to
> be logged in to register, but you can login via Launchpad.
>
> What will we be doing?
> ----------------------
>
> There are going to be a few things happening. There are going to be a few
> talks[4] on various aspects of Ubuntu. Some folks will be doing some testing
> and bug reporting. There will be demonstrations of software, and folks will
> also be able to come to install Ubuntu on their computers with the help of
> experts in our community.
>
> Please note that this event is not aimed at geeks and developers. If you use
> Ubuntu and want to learn how you can contribute back to the community, then we
> want to see you there! On the other hand, if you are unsure of Ubuntu and want
> to learn more, there will be a number of folk there who will be keen to show
> you Ubuntu and how to get started with it.
>
> How can I help?
> ---------------
>
> If you'd like to help us out with the Jam, please consider giving a talk (see
> the Talk Requests on the wiki page[4]), or just rock up and help out where you
> can.
